Kyle played shy in the beginning, but once I started the fake farts, he was all giggles and smiles. =) And mom brought fruit snacks.
The things you do as a photog… LOL
I always tell myself to try something new. I’m still discovering what makes my heart flutter when I photograph it. I’m still finding my niche. I’m still full of ideas and things I want to accomplish, like, yesterday. So I figured, I shoot outdoors in the greenery all the time. Let’s try something different. Let’s shoot in a quaint little downtown area. And guess what? I LOVE IT!
Working with these three sisters was fantastic. Even with crazy hectic schedules they were able to get together and model for me… and just in time for a Mother’s Day surprise!
Not to mention, it was my first set of female twins and I was super pumped. I know, corny, but still. I love when twins don’t necessarily look identical. I love the individualism of each one. I love my job. I love what I do. And these girls made me love trying new things.
Here are a few of my favorite images:
It’s always been a dream of mine to photograph a ballerina. Always. Maybe it’s because I never had the talent or coordination to be one myself, but there is just something mesmerizing about how graceful they are.
So when I had the opportunity to work in-studio with a fellow local photog, Kelton Kaye, I jumped on it of course! At the time, I didn’t know I was going to be working with a prima ballerina, but boy oh boy was I excited when she walked in!
Maddy and her mom were so wonderful. I seriously can’t say enough nice things about them. So, I’ll just show you a few of my favorite shots from their session. =)
When I first saw her in her tutu and pointe shoes, I envisioned an entire black & white series, but then when I uploaded them for retouching, I realized I loved the color just as much, so I did both.
I had a lovely time and can’t wait for her to see her complete collection of images!
I usually like to do my challenge in the morning, but since this challenge was sunset, I obviously couldn’t do it when I woke up. LOL So I waited. And waited. And waited some more. Like, 14 hours. Nooooo, I’m kidding. I was busy all day so it wasn’t like I was sitting outside with my camera just waiting. Anyways, the view from my backyard is pretty bleck when discussing the sunset. And with two babies at home, it’s not very easy to pack up at 8:30PM and head off to the beach or something to photograph a sunset. I did my best and got a sun flare’d sunset. Not ideal for the challenge, but since the sun is technically setting, it still counts, right? 😉
I’ll work on getting a beautiful sunset shot this month and I’ll post it here.
I love food. Always have, always will.
I had blackberries sitting in my fridge and decided it would be awesome to take pics to hang in my kitchen. So I borrowed a jar from a friend (thanks, Bri!) and set up shop on my treadmill. Yes, on my treadmill. I use it for running also, I swear! =)
Badaboom, a few photos for my kitchen. =) But it made me realize how much I actually love photographing food.
Now I get to read tips and practice my food. Oh, you know, just combining two things I love. =)
Today’s challenge? Shooting from a low angle. I have always preferred a high angle, but while I was sitting in the recliner in our living room, I happened to glance up at the flowers my husband and oldest daughter brought home for me yesterday. And saw them from… A LOW ANGLE! So I took a shot. Changed the editing a bit from my norm so I could see it in a completely different way. And BAM. Here you go!
Today I started my first 30 Day Photography Challenge and I am so excited to share!
Not only is this my first challenge, but there are also things on the list I am not familiar with and I am so excited to learn!
Soooooooo to start my challenge off, here is Day 1:
I am a mother of two beautiful girls. I am a wife to an amazing and supportive husband who works very hard to allow me to be able to follow this dream. We will be married 5 years this September. =) I enjoy, no, I mean LOVE food. Homemade macaroni and cheese, filet mignon, smoked salmon, beef jerky, wasabi mashed potatoes, and shrimp and lobster quesadillas are just a few of my favorites, but nothing can top a juicy cheeseburger stacked high with applewood smoked bacon, american and pepperjack cheese, and onion rings. Okay, okay. My mouth is watering like crazy now. Anyways, I have tons of goals and dreams and I am making each one of them happen. My favorite color is pink, but I also love navy and mint just as much. I’ve never owned a pair of TOMS but am hoping to invest in a pair this summer so my tootsies can be comfy cozy while chasing my littles. I am not much of a cook, but can whip up a dessert in a flash and have it be pretty stinkin’ good. I can’t swim, I hate bugs, and mosquitos flock to me like I’m a prime rib feast.
So, that’s a little about me. Feel free to share a little about yourself, since I love meeting and learning about new people!
A fellow photog and friend of mine, Jessica from M & J Photography, hosted a boudoir marathon this past weekend at Motor City Casino and I got to tag along. I can’t post any photos of the lovely ladies, but I had a field day with their shoes!
My girls. My two lovely little ladies. The two girls that make me smile every single day. I seriously can’t say enough about them, but I can tell you they are growing too darn fast.
I snapped a few of my 10-month-old this afternoon as she was waking up from her nap. Red forehead and all. Enjoy, folks!
